Retainage
Definition
Retainage is a percentage of a construction contract — commonly five to ten percent — withheld until final completion and acceptance.
It is earned revenue that will not appear in your deposits until release. On a book of active work the accumulated total can be substantial, and it is worth stating when applying because it materially changes the picture of what the business has produced.
