Trigger leads
Definition
Trigger leads are lists sold by credit bureaus identifying people whose credit was recently pulled, letting other lenders call a business owner within days — sometimes hours — of a financing application.
When a lender pulls your credit for a business loan application, the inquiry itself becomes a piece of data the bureaus can sell. Other lenders buy those trigger lists — names of people whose credit was just checked — because a business owner actively seeking financing is the most valuable prospect there is. That is the mechanic behind the phone flood many owners experience right after applying: the callers never saw your application; they bought the fact that one happened.
One practical upshot: fewer credit pulls means fewer lists to land on. An application process that runs on a single pull generates a single trigger event; spreading your file across many lenders at once multiplies them.
