ACH debit

Also called: automatic remittance, ACH withdrawal

Definition

An ACH debit is an automated withdrawal a business authorizes a funder to pull directly from its bank account, typically on a fixed daily or weekly schedule, as the standard remittance method for revenue-based funding.

Most revenue-based funding remits by ACH: you sign an authorization at funding, and payments then pull automatically from the business bank account on the agreed schedule — no invoice to remember, no transfer to initiate. It has largely replaced the card-sales split of the classic merchant cash advance, because it works for businesses whose revenue arrives as checks and deposits rather than card swipes.

The practical discipline is keeping the account covered on pull days. A returned ACH shows up as an NSF on the very bank statements a future review will read, and repeated returns are how repayment trouble usually starts — if a tight stretch is coming, raise it with your funder before a pull bounces, not after.
